Our property "Marmalade" gets its name from a small Organic Orange orchard planted 8 years ago on the slopes below the house. Built of rammed earth brick and of a totally solar design, it features local hardwood timbers, exposed beams leadlight windows and wrought iron work. A large central living area with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Upstairs features another lounge leading out onto a balcony, the perfect spot to enjoy a glass or two of local wine. Set up high on the coastal ridge it overlooks the surrounding forest with sweeping views. Situated just off the Caves Road it is in a very central location just west of Margaret River, a thriving picturesque town of exceptional restaurants and shops. A prestigious Golf Course within a 5min drive and a few more minutes will take you to the famous coastline of World Class Surf quiet beaches and the Rivermouth. The Leeuwin Estate Winery, Voyager Winery, Cullen's Winery and Vasse Felix are within 15mins drive along the famous Caves Road.

Changeover day
A complete day is required for changeovers and arrival is 2.30pm. and departure is 11am.

Cleaning/towels/

All linen and towels are supplied fresh from the Laundry Service in Margaret River for our guests and are changed on a weekly basis.
A cleaning service is offered for long term stays. |
Notes on accommodation
Our house is of a solar design and air-conditioning has not been needed. The house has a very efficient wood fire in the kitchen which heats the living area and there is a oil radiator for the end bedroom.
We do have a wrought iron spiral staircase leading upstairs and is not suitable for young children unsupervised. The property is unfenced to allow access to wildlife.

Outside
Extensive native gardens have been established with areas of lawn and steps down to the certified organic orange orchard. A large proportion of the trees are Seville Oranges used for the famous Breakfast Marmalade and made on the property.
Limes Lemons Valencias and Washington Navals and lovely pink grapefruit can all be picked for your breakfast.
Relax outside with BBQ and table and chairs, under the deep cool verandahs.
Coast/Beach
Our closest local beaches are 5 minutes travel in the car from Marmalade. Cowaramup Bay is 25kms north and a lovely coastal village with safe swimming. We are 5 mins walk from the famous Cape - to Cape Walk A coastal path of 7 days from the Leeuwin Lighthouse at Augusta north to the Naturalise Lighthouse north of Yallingup. Our coast features superb surf and small quiet bays with white sands and gentle waters. Fishing is excellent and can be quite rewarding.
Golf
The Margaret River Golf Club situated 5 mins by car from Marmalade is one of the most scenic clubs with regular appearances of wild life. An 18 Hole course with grass greens and quite challenging elevations. Golf Buggies (motorised) and also clubs are available for hire, Bookings are a good idea.
Travel
Flying in from other countries Perth is the destination and also the capital of Western Australia. Margaret River is 4 hours driving south from the city but our roads are good with little traffic. There is also a light plane charter service from Perth to Busselton just north of Margaret River. All towns have Hire cars available, essential to visit the many tourist attractions of the region.
Distances
We are 10 kms from Margaret River and 10 Kms from the local beaches of Prevelly by car. 25kms down to the tourist Caves of Lake Jewel and Mammoth and the beautiful Karri Tree Forest, very scenic. Augusta, a lovely town bordered by the ocean and the Blackwood River and where the Indian Ocean and the Southern Oceans meet is about 25minutes by car.
Further details
Margaret River has a bounty of interesting shops and also supermarkets. Many types of restaurants catering for all needs and purses abound, many pubs and wine bars also.
All the major banks are represented and lots of tourist information is available. Most of the major wineries are first class restaurants and bookings are essential.
